“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.” - Rabindranath Tagore
Hello to any and all who find themselves reading this! I'm happy that you've somehow stumbled upon my little corner of the internet. It's been a wild and wacky ride for me in Doha, and this blog is testimony to the ups and downs, the heartbreaks and the accomplishments. My two years in Doha have been some of the best times of my (short) little life, and I couldn't be more pleased that I decided to go. Time in the desert isn't all sunshine and roses though, and there's so much about Qatar that challenged me in the realest way. Some of my hardest and most challenging moments confronted me on that dusty little peninsula.
It's still hard for me to fully understand that I've (mostly) accomplished what I set out to do. Even though the state of my thesis should strike fear into my very core (since it happens to be due in a week), I know that these are just the last few steps before I've officially sealed the deal on my MA, and I can start to position myself to have the best possible foothold on PhD applications in the fall.
And no, none of these PhD programs are in Doha :(
So I'll be leaving Doha, at least for now, and heading out on a new adventure. It seems obvious to me, then, that this blog will come to a close. I think that's why I've been so reluctant to write anything lately, because I don't even know that it would make sense to the theme of the blog. That's the problem about such ambitious endeavors, they inevitably are based upon finite experiences. What point would there be for me to continue this blog once I'm no longer in Doha?
You see my dilemma.
This doesn't mean that you've seen the end of the BoulderHijabi though, by any means! I've got ideas forming in my head, and even more ambitious plans in the pipe.
I can't tell you how much I've appreciated the feedback from that handful of people that read this blog routinely and bothered to let me know what they think. And even to the douchebags that came here just to troll, or to argue about one petty detail or another - thanks to you too. Because without you, my page views and shares wouldn't be so high, and I wouldn't get such an ego boost. I <3 my haters too.
If you want to know what's coming next, you should follow me on twitter @boulderhijabi or Facebook (BoulderHijabi) - cause chances are that's where I'll start churning out whatever plan I decide to go with. Don't try to add me on my personal Facebook if I don't know you; it'll only make me shame you by angrily showing the nearest person your picture, the 5th random person to send me a friend request today. Stop. Just stop.
To some, this is where we part ways. It's been swell, and it's been a fun ride - but this is where the sidewalk ends.
Peace & love always
